Be your best self.
Hi, I’m Kelli!
I am a very passionate individual in life and with my business. I consider my life’s purpose to be helping others find their true happiness and learn to love themselves and the life they are living. Along the way, I am continuing to grow myself, stretch out of my comfort zone to experience all that life has to offer, and find the next direction my journey is leading me.
I have always had an interest in Health and Fitness. As a teenager I participated in track and field and cross country which introduced me to endurance training. I always enjoyed pushing myself and seeing what I was capable of so I continued exercising, mostly cardio, after graduating from HS. I graduated college with a Bachelor’s Degree in Park and Recreation Management and still love the outdoors and environmental education. However, after graduation I turned to the gym and weight training. Originally going just to pass the time, weight lifting helping me find myself again and become strong physically and mentally. It wasn’t long before I knew I wanted to work in Health and Fitness.
Self-Care As Therapy
After graduating college, I became very depressed. I cried all the time, always wanted to sleep, and for the first time in my life I had no motivation and no idea what I wanted to do. To keep me company, my brother invited me to go to the gym with him. It started as something to do and somewhere to go. Every day, when my brother was ready for the gym, I would go too. I knew how to exercise but I had no former knowledge of how to weight train and I felt like a fish out of water in a new place, with new people, and no idea what I was doing. I quickly made friends and another woman at the gym offered to be my workout partner and let me shadow her workouts every day. I began to learn, my body started to change, and I was hooked. The gym became a safe haven for me, a comfortable place to go when I didn’t want to be alone at home. Before I knew it, I was training on my own and loving every minute of my new lifestyle. My depression was gone, healed by my new mindset and the positive environment that my new lifestyle had created.
Becoming a Health Coach
After training my first year, I decided to prep for my first bodybuilding show, bikini competition. I struggled with the typical “bro diet” of eating the same foods all day, every day. Eating foods I hated, I developed a destructive cycle of restriction and binging that left me with a bad relationship with food. Afterwards I practiced flexible dieting for a couple years (IIFYM) before switching over to intuitive eating. I coach in order to help others find the dietary practice and lifestyle structure that best works for them and makes them feel happy and healthy. I wanted to be the person I needed when I first started so that I could take the questioning and self-doubt out of the equation for as many people as possible.
I found the knowledge I was seeking at The Institute of Integrative Nutrition, the world’s largest nutrition school, and signed up for their health coach training program where I learned how to live a better life through eating well and taking care of myself. I’ve received very detailed and careful instruction on how to counsel others.
Upon completion of the program. I founded my own health coaching business, Primary Nourishment LLC, so that I can bring my knowledge and passion to others and change their lives forever. I now practice a mix of flexible dieting and intuitive eating. I want to end the cycle of bad fad diets, binge eating, body dysmorphia, and yo-yo weight lose that leaves so many people frustrated, stressed out, and disappointed. Nutrition and a healthy lifestyle can be comfortably integrated into the lives of all people from all different tracks of life. Fitness gave me the confidence to know my own strength and chase after my dreams while health through primary nourishment gave me the knowledge I needed to understand how to let go of perceived limitations and trust in myself and my abilities.
